Daffodil...

Started this in sunshine and noticed it snowing when I'd finished :? New background added, painted but not smudged.

Sian this is lovely! I really like your composition with the bloom towering over the golden background. Very nice work!!

Beautiful Sian, I love the composition and the way the background shows the gold spilling out of the daffodil - simply gorgeous!

Flowers are my favorite thing to smudge and I think you've done a super job on this daffodil. I love the lighting and the background. I'm a close-up freak so like your cropped version a little better but both are wonderful. Thanks for posting. :D

Wow - great job - love the composition

Love the composition - you did a great job. I am now just taking Scotts course. Do you mind if I ask how you created the background as I have trouble creating backgrounds - it goes perfect with the flower.

Thanks giraffe, appreciate your comments.

Using Photoshop I applied a mask to the daffodil so the background would show through (hope that makes sense!) The background itself started as a new white layer and I used various brushes to texturise it (different colours and opacities on separate layers then played with mode variations). Hope this helps.
