Inspired by Sian's Roses

Postby MurryG on Tue Mar 25, 2008 2:57 pm

I went to Mercer Gardens (north Houston) last Saturday and everything had just exploded and was in bloom so I shot a few hundred photos and have been going through them. When I saw Sian's roses I thought I should smudge some flowers so I spent the last four hours doing this bottle brush bloom photo. What do you think? Is it still too much like a photo? I used only the round rough brush on this one. Here is a link to the larger version: http://grigsbys.smugmug.com/gallery/454 ... Y/Original

Murry that is stunning! I thought it was too much like a photo until I went and looked at the large version, and it is beeeutiful. Great job. I think it would print very well, with a very painterly look.

This is a beauty, Murry. You did a marvelous job creating a painterly image while mantaining detail in the final piece.

This is lovely Murry, so much detail! The larger version is a must for the painterly feel. Your hard work has paid off, this is a keeper and I bet it will look great printed and displayed. Well done, I think you did a cracking job and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks Lynn, Lisa, Gale, Sian and Palms! This was actually easier for me than the class portrait but I'm still amazed at how long these take. I may just cheat and use the BuZZ filter for all but special photos  Thanks again for looking and taking time to comment!!

Murry, thought it looked photographic too but then looked at the larger version and it is beautiful. Looks very painted. This would print out beautifully. Wow!!!
