Your smudges are always so clean,Ray.Indeed, very "fine" art! I have a couple questions on your work flow. Did you paint the straw bands on the hat one band segment at a time? The integrity of the straw wrap is excellent-a feat very difficult to accomplish with the smudge tool unless you are gifted with an almost infinite amount of patience. Are we seeing the image here at its highest resolution? What brush did you use to paint the beard? Great subject and powerful foreground presence!

Thanks Patre,

The straw bands were painted by dropping the opacity of the brush to about 50-20%

I then went round trying to follow a line for each group, so not individiual but still in groups to try to keep the detail.

Image is not at its highest res but I am limited at what I can output with Imageshack.

The brush for the beard is new hair 03....I haven't a clue where I got some of the brushes....perhaps lindas or sarsas???

I did take some time with this but there is still great room for improvement.....always appreciate your feedback which is consistently constructive and helpful.

By the way, Marty did some great colour adjustments for me in my other recent smudge....great for people to help as they always do here.

Kind regards
Ray
