Painting landscapes..
I rarely see landscapes painted using the smudge technique. Is that because it is too difficult to render detailed elements like leaves using any of a variety of smudge brushes. If anyone paints landscapes, I would be interested to know what brushes you use to paint the detailed elements in a landscape photograph.
I am posting two images here which I painted this afternoon, but consider to be of less than excellent quality. I am not sure if the lack of quality can be traced to my lack of patience, or to the fact that I didn't use the correct brushes to really achieve the painterly effect.
The B&W version is more appealing to me probably because it hides some of the flaws that might be more easily seen in the colored version.
