My friend asked me to make a smudge of his son, and here goes....

I like your foreground to background contrast of color and the pastel effect.The sharpening artifacts(different and tiny shades of color seen in the hair) can be a plus or minus depending on how the viewer interprets them.
I am not sure about the red in the irises of the eyes because you might have been trying to remain faithful to the original.
