I found this image on one of the public domain government sites and decided to see if it would work as a portrait. Here are two versions of the image. One without a background/foreground enhancement and the other with it. I used a mask to manage the sand effect on the face.

that looks like a interesting subject Patre, i like the second one with the background better, although not sure of the texture on the skin

The texture you see on the face is sand and I maked it in with a low opacity brush. The sand was in the original photograph. This soldier looks like he was stationed in Iraq and had to deal with the desert sun,wind and sand.

Patre the sand must of caused you some brain scratching time still a good image
